Alternating Rear Leg Lifts
Alternating Rear Leg Lifts | Nichole Mellison
Like regular rear leg lifts, these alternating rear leg lifts will help you tone your glutes (butt) and the back of your legs as you strengthen your lower back. In some ways, alternating rear leg lifts may be easier for you. They may work even better for you as you learn to work both sides of your body in rhythm. You will have one side to help support you as you lift the opposite leg, but that doesn’t mean they are easy!
Again, it’s important to move deliberately during this exercise and NOT use momentum to swing your legs upward. Stabilize your core against the unstable surface of the Exercise Star while you focus on the movement using your glutes and hamstrings. Small movements are fine. Don’t try to raise your legs too high, and maintain a deliberate pace. Keeping your hands and/or forearms on the floor will help support you.
